Her debut album, “Magi Merlin is not a pop star,” was critically acclaimed and earned her a JUNO Awards nomination.

PIERRE KWENDERS
7 PM, UWE

Born in Congo, Montreal artist Pierre Kwenders is known for his unique blend of R&B, electro, hip-hop, and African music. He has gained international acclaim by singing in multiple languages, including French, English, Lingala, and Tshiluba. His album “José Louis and the Paradox of Love” was awarded the prestigious Polaris Music Prize in 2022. Kwenders is also a key member of the Montreal DJ collective Moonshine.

CIMA: “CANADA HOUSE” SHOWCASES
MORE QUÉBÉCOIS ARTISTS TO DISCOVER AT REEPERBAHN

Finally, on September 19, M for Montreal and Québec Créatif (SODEC) are proud to support two more talented Québécois artists who will also be performing at the Reeperbahn Festival as part of the Made in Canada showcases, presented by the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA).

Come and discover the rich harmonies of the trio Bye Parula, as well as the alternative indie-pop flair of Chiara Savasta, performing on the UWE stage at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.

BYE PARULA
4 PM, UWE

Bye Parula is the kind of trio that seems to have emerged from an old VCR, somewhere between a dusty reel of ’70s cinema and a modern indie pop dream. Formed in Montréal in 2020, the band brings together three distinct personalities united by a shared vision: Sergio d’Isanto (drums, vocals), Sebastián Riquelme (guitar, vocals), and Loïc Calatayud (vocals, bass) come together to fuse their influences into a sound that’s as delicate as it is captivating.

CHIARA SAVASTA
8 PM, UWE

Chiara Savasta is a singer-songwriter from Montreal. Born in the suburbs of the city, onto a generation burdened by anxiety and desillusion, Chiara would sit in her room and romanticize her life through songwriting. This way of escaping her teenage life became the foundation of her first project Summerhood. Released in 2022, Summerhood is Chiara’s own take on the coming-of-age experience, as she herself stumbles into adulthood.
