For nearly 18 years now, M for Montreal has been spreading the word about Canadian artists through its commercial operations around the world. Every year, M for Montreal organizes a number of artist showcases at festivals and conferences in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., France, Germany and many other countries. Always organized in advance of the showcases, M for Montreal plans B2B activities with influential players in the target markets. These privileged moments are recognized and sought-after for their high-calibre, high-impact curation.
In 2023, M for Montreal was instrumental in organizing showcases and networking opportunities for over 50 artists, including at The New Colossus (UK), SXSW (USA), Wide Days (UK), FOCUS Wales (UK), The Great Escape (UK), Reeperbahn (DE) and MaMA (FR). The showcases attracted some 5,000 professionals and festival-goers, and resulted in more than 50 contracts being negotiated and $150,000 Canadian in revenue.
Obtaining an international festival showcase for your artist is a powerful means of outreach and business development. In fact, it’s a golden opportunity for you to present your artists to a number of relevant professionals abroad: agents, managers, publishers, PR people, etc. It’s the perfect opportunity for an artist to showcase their work abroad. It is also a chance for an artist to build a team in a new territory. M for Montreal works in close collaboration with several liaison agents (Factory92, Marauder, Vision, etc.) present in the territories we cover, for curation and contacts with invited professionals. These privileged relationships enable us to facilitate business connections between selected artists and professionals in the visited region.
M for Montreal acts as co-programmer of the showcase. Teams wishing to obtain a showcase in one of these events must therefore submit their application through the official event selection process to ensure that they will be considered for a showcase. Without an official application, the artist will not be considered.
