M FOR MONTREAL ⮕ REEPERBAHN 2026
As part of its “On The Road” initiatives, M for Montreal will be attending the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg from September 16 to 19 and, on September 17, 2026, in collaboration with Québec Créatif and CIMA, will present four showcases featuring Canadian artists: Le Ren, Jashim, Les Shirley, and Boutique Feelings, who will perform for an audience of professionals from the German and European music industries.
This additional mission reaffirms M for Montreal’s commitment to promoting local talent abroad and connecting music scenes across borders.

On Don’t Be Funny Without Me (DBFWM), Le Ren explores love, jealousy, and their contradictions with raw honesty. After international tours alongside Jeff Tweedy, Devendra Banhart, and Men I Trust, she recorded the album in Ontario with long-time collaborators. More expansive and richly arranged than her previous work, DBFWM marks a clear artistic evolution, shaped by northern resilience, broadened instrumentation, and deeply human songwriting.
Jashim

Jashim is a Colombian and Québécois artist, rapper and record producer . Having grown up in Urabá, Antioquia, he transforms his deep roots into futuristic rhythms redefining sound, identity, and technology. After arriving in 2004, Jashim evolved within Ubisoft’s AAA video-game world before shifting his practice toward creating music and immersive worlds that act as portals. A pioneer of Montréal’s underground Latinx scene, he made his debut with the EP Cuando aprendí a Hablar , blending reggaeton, memory, and cinematic storytelling. Their work has been featured by Club Quarantine, Boiler Room and Mutants Vol. 2 (curated by Arca), and they’ve shared the stage with groundbreaking artists including Tayhana, Rosa Pistola, Ms. Nina, Toccororo, Caleb calloway and more.
Les Shirley

Les Shirley is a female power trio from Montreal, formed in 2019, rooted in punk rock. Raphaëlle Chouinard (vocals, guitar), Lisandre Bourdages (drums), and Sarah Dion (bass) share a desire to create the kind of music they always wanted as the soundtrack to their coming-of-age years. Their sound redefines the genre by blending 90s grunge, 2000s punk rock culture, and catchy pop melodies, with influences ranging from Paramore to Céline Dion. The result is a mix of comforting nostalgia and exhilarating freshness that instantly hooks the listener. Seasoned musicians, the band excels in delivering electrifying melodies and wild, high-energy riffs.
Boutique Feelings

Boutique Feelings is the project of Montreal multi-instrumentalist Karim Lakhdar (Atsuko Chiba). Blending hip-hop, psychedelic funk, trip-hop and experimental music, he explores cultural and personal identity through offbeat storytelling and a mix of organic and synthetic textures. Following his debut EP, he released the album Shwaya, Shwaya in 2025, bringing the project to life on stage with a full band and video projections.
