M ON THE QUAYS: Just can’t get enough...

As hard as it might be to imagine this hell of a party could get even better, we are now adding even more swagger to the M on the Quays weekend. Yes! More good music, more fabulous people, more howling under the moon…

Mister « human beat-box » himself, BIZ MARKIE, is jumping in to close the event in all its glamorous beauty on Sunday, September 5th. You know the guy from back when hip hop was referred to as « Rap » (JUICE CREW!!), as well as BEASTIE BOYS protégé (Check Your HeadIll CommunicationHello Nasty), or as a regular on In Living Color and even as an alien version of himself in Men In Black II (jump to the 2 :15 mark), etc, etc, etc.

Yes, those were the days – this is the man!

We’re getting so psyched, we have cramps!!

Speaking of cramps, our friend MC Gilles won’t be able to make it as previously announced… No, it isn't exactly because of cramps.

He's very sorry. So are we, we’ll make it up to you. Promise.

For all of the others : see you on the Quays next week!!

Love, Beat-box, M…

M on the Quays 2010: The real deal

The time has finally come to spread the good news. We couldn’t keep it quiet any longer, so here is, the complete line-up for the Sirius event – M ON THE QUAYS 2010. For you, and only you!

We’ve already told you about VOIVOD, PRIESTESS, TRAP, SILLY KISSERS, MONOGRENADE and LE MATOS and yet, this was only the tip of the iceberg my friends.

OK, here we go…

LE ROI POISSON will bring its improbable mixture of sounds with a progressive tweak that will put a smile on your face. WINTER GLOVES will introduce their brand new album to the world – entitled All Red out September 6th on Paper Bag Records. Man, are we eager to hear it!! META GRUAU, on the other side, will join the party with a healthy dose of « synth-sludge » while BATEAU NOIR and GaBLé will add dark beauty and grace to the flow.

Rockers from all over the city will join forces and bring dirt and devil signs, banging to the sounds of DANCE LAURY DANCE (just watch a clip HERE to get a better idea). And then have a boogie-off to the many crunches of PATRIK ET LES BRUTES and ELEKTRIK BONES.

The dancing portion will be guaranteed by the tastefully colored ORANGE ORANGE and the nasty beats of SUUNS, CLAASS and math-rockers DD/MM/YYYY. JIMMY HUNT will bring the blues back and you will sing along to the naïve decadence of TRICOT MACHINE. The day will kick off to the softer sounds of ELISAPIE ISAAC and MARCO CALLIARI (with a new album out in August) and the ukulélé of LUCKY UKE.

There’ll be definitely something for everyone.

As per every year, artists will play on two stages (NRJ, CHOM) and DJs will fill transitions (MC GILLES, CHERRY COLA, TRAP and ORANGE ORANGE) for this non-stop fiesta during labor-day weekend. Of course, there’ll be food, booze and amusement for the kids all day.

You know you wanna…

Oh! And as if this wasn’t enough, we thought we’d start the weekend early with our Mini-M – on the Quays pre-party Thursday September 2nd with SUNNY DUVAL, GRAND TRINE and BOBO BOUTIN @ Café Campus!

ALL OF THE ABOVE: FREE!!!

Thank you, good night. See you by the river!!!

HOW TO GET THERE

Remember the good time we had last year...

Mini-M 5 - Just before the flood...

Right before we invade the Old Port with M ON THE QUAYS, one would think the M team is laying low, preserving its energy for the weekend. Well, apparently not. We’re fueling on extra coffee to keep up with the Mini-M concert series two days prior to the quays. Shall we call it a “Quays in the city” starter?

The night kicks off with the unidentified creature that is BOBO BOUTIN, former Les Georges Leningrad drummer turned magic cartoñero. The atypical concoction of sounds he comes up with honors the memorable Leningrad tradition by redefining the barriers of sanity – in the best possible way.

Proto-punkers GRAND TRINE will follow up with their thousand genres. Think heavy psych with an uncommon energy for live performance that will make you go mad… Definitely an act to watch closely.

And the main stage will welcome our own Guitar Hero: mister SUNNY DUVAL. With his own solo project, the musician gives space to his main influences: rock’n’roll, country, punk rock, charleston and doo wop all come together for a homemade greasy-spoon sound where the man gets down and dirty. And you’ll dig it.

This is all happening at Café Campus –where they have the cheapest beer and the entrance is FREE.

And to show you how comprehensive we are, we are giving you Friday off to get ready for the grand weekend. You’re welcome.
